Rumors Swirl as iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max Set to Retain Dynamic Island Feature
Recent speculation surrounding Apple’s anticipated iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max suggests that the models will not incorporate a smaller Dynamic Island, countering previous forecasts that an under-display Face ID sensor would enable this change. Reliable sources have indicated that both devices will maintain the same Dynamic Island design as their predecessors, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
A report emerging from China, credited to the well-known tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, posits that Apple has decided to delay the integration of the under-display Face ID system to the next iteration of the iPhone line. The rationale for this decision has not been officially confirmed, though industry analysts speculate that Apple aims to keep the pricing of the iPhone 18 Pro series consistent with last year’s models. If a price increase occurs, it is expected to be minimal, possibly driven by rising RAM costs.
The report further suggests that in order to maintain profitability, Apple may forgo the introduction of potentially more expensive components like the under-display sensor. Additionally, it has been noted that the screen sizes and designs will mirror those of the iPhone 17 Pro models.
Anticipated upgrades for the iPhone 18 Pro series include the introduction of the A20 Pro chip, which will be based on a cutting-edge 2nm manufacturing process, as well as a variable aperture camera and increased battery capacity, anticipated to exceed 5,000 mAh for the Pro Max model. Whether these enhancements will drive substantial sales remains to be seen.
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are slated for a September unveiling, likely alongside Apple’s other highly anticipated release, which some are dubbing the iPhone Fold or iPhone Ultra.
