Apple’s Upcoming iPhone 18 Pro Max to Feature Increased Thickness and Weight
Apple Inc. is set to unveil its iPhone 18 Pro Max later this year, and initial reports indicate that the device will be slightly thicker than its predecessor. According to renowned leaker Ice Universe, the new model will measure 8.8mm, a minor increase from the 8.75mm of the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
This thickness adjustment aligns with previous claims suggesting that the iPhone 18 Pro Max could become the heaviest iPhone to date. In November, another leaker, Instant Digital, mentioned that the phone’s body would contribute to a weight exceeding 240 grams, surpassing the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
The increase in weight may benefit users seeking improved battery life, as Digital Chat Station, another source from Weibo, reported that the iPhone 18 Pro Max is anticipated to house a larger battery, potentially between 5,100 and 5,200 mAh. This represents a slight enhancement over the 5,088 mAh capacity of the eSIM version of the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Despite the changes in thickness and weight, Apple is expected to maintain the current 6.9-inch display size in the iPhone 18 Pro Max. Alongside this model, both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are rumored to feature new enhancements, including a smaller Dynamic Island, the upgraded C2 modem, simplified Camera Control, and an advanced main camera with a variable aperture.
Anticipation continues to build for the official launch of the iPhone 18 series later this year, as details emerge about its specifications and features.
