Renovations Underway at Marsh Farm as Prince Andrew Prepares for Life Away from Royal Lodge
A truck emblazoned with a royal warrant from Linney Cooper, the flooring company renowned for its work at royal residences, has been sighted at Marsh Farm, the property set to become Prince Andrew’s new residence. This development symbolizes the significant transition in Andrew’s life, marking a departure from the expansive Royal Lodge he inhabited for years.
While the quality of Linney Cooper’s craftsmanship—previously showcased in Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace, and Windsor Castle—is undoubtedly commendable, the context of Prince Andrew’s relocation is starkly different. He is moving from a lavish 30-room estate to a residence that is reportedly much smaller and less opulent.
Renovations at Marsh Farm have been underway for several months, involving not only Linney Cooper but also Next Level Flooring Solutions, as documented by Hello! magazine. Reports indicate that Andrew is slated to move into his new quarters next month.
Despite the renovations, sources familiar with the property describe Marsh Farm as situated in a floodplain, lacking the grandeur that characterized Royal Lodge. Comparisons highlight the significant downsizing Andrew is experiencing.
Currently, Andrew resides at Wood Farm, a secluded retreat on the Sandringham estate where the late Prince Philip spent his final years. Following his high-profile arrest on February 19 in connection with allegations of misconduct, Andrew’s public appearances have dwindled, contributing to a noticeably constricted lifestyle.
Royal biographer Andrew Lownie, author of Entitled, shed light on Andrew’s reduced daily activities, stating that he is essentially confined to Wood Farm. Lownie noted, “I hear he’s not even allowed to go out the front door to go riding,” indicating a further limitation of his freedom.
When it comes to how Andrew occupies his time, Lownie’s observations paint a somewhat grim picture: “Well, what he did before really, which is to basically mooch around all morning in his dressing gown and watch films,” he remarked.
As renovations at Marsh Farm continue, it is evident that Andrew’s life has transformed dramatically. New floors and a smaller home mark a new chapter, underscored by a significant arrest that looms over any future he may have envisioned on the Sandringham estate.
