Published: 12:01 AM, March 10, 2026
The highly anticipated annual comedy event, Red Nose Day, is set to return, promising an unforgettable evening of laughter and philanthropy. This year, “Comic Relief: Funny for Money” will be broadcast live from MediaCityUK in Salford on Friday, March 20, starting at 7 PM, available on both BBC iPlayer and BBC One. For the first time, the event will also be streamed live on the official BBC YouTube channel.
A Spectacle for a Cause
This year’s show aims to deliver an exhilarating mix of live performances, stunning prizes, surprise guest appearances, and essential sketches—all with the ultimate goal of raising funds to provide food, shelter, and safety to those in need, both in the UK and abroad. The event will be anchored by renowned host Davina McCall, alongside comedic talents such as Katherine Ryan, Nick Mohammed, Joel Dommett, and Catherine Tate reprising her beloved character, Nan.
Audience members can expect a lineup of entertaining sketches, including a segment titled “The Bank Job,” featuring Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary, as well as other collaborations with popular BBC shows such as The Traitors and Amandaland. Additional surprises are set to be revealed as the date approaches.
Accessibility and Inclusivity
The production team has made significant strides toward accessibility this year, with Audio Description (AD) options available on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. This will allow for a more inclusive viewing experience through Freeview, Sky, and Virgin Media, along with sign language interpretation accessible via the Red Button on digital platforms.
“Comic Relief: Funny for Money” is produced by BBC Studios Entertainment Productions for the BBC, with Kalpna Patel-Knight serving as the Head of Entertainment. Executive Producers Sophie Rogers and Colin Hopkins, alongside Commissioning Editor Katie Taylor, are excited about this year’s lineup and initiatives.
Additional Programming
Following the main event, a special episode of Comic Relief Does The Weakest Link will air at 10 PM on BBC Two, hosted by Romesh Ranganathan, featuring six comedians competing for the title of champion.
On March 21, viewers can tune into Comic Relief: More Funny For Money, a highlights show, along with a retrospective, Comic Relief’s Hits and Hidden Gems at the BBC. These will showcase memorable performances from renowned artists such as Adele, One Direction, and the Spice Girls, mixed with rare gems from other celebrated acts.
Supporting the Cause
Across the days leading up to Red Nose Day, various BBC programming, including The One Show, will preview major sketches and support fundraising efforts. Popular program Blue Peter will temporarily become “Red Peter” for a special takeover, specifically designed to engage younger audiences in fundraising activities.
Commencing on March 13, BBC Radio’s Greg James will embark on an ambitious 1,000 km tandem cycling challenge across the UK to raise essential funds for Comic Relief. Starting from Weymouth and culminating in Edinburgh, this effort aims to inspire community participation and awareness around those impacted by deprivation.
