NVIDIA Enhances GeForce Now Streaming Platform with Key Updates

At the recent Game Developer’s Conference (GDC), NVIDIA announced significant enhancements to its GeForce Now game streaming platform, particularly benefiting users of GOG and virtual reality (VR) headsets.

One of the platform’s most notable improvements is aimed at VR users. Beginning March 19, devices like the Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest will support streaming at 90 frames per second (fps) for Ultimate members, an upgrade from the previous 60 fps. This increase aims to enhance the overall experience by providing greater smoothness, responsiveness, and realism in gameplay.

In addition to VR enhancements, NVIDIA is introducing in-app labels designed to improve navigation within the GeForce Now interface. Players who link their Xbox or Ubisoft accounts will soon find clear labels displayed on game artwork, indicating titles available through these subscription services. Expanding its connectivity options, GeForce Now will also incorporate account linking with GOG, following its CES announcement regarding Gaijin single sign-on.

The platform is also broadening its Install-to-Play library to include select titles from Xbox, such as Double Fine Productions’ Brutal Legend and Contrast from Compulsion Games. Furthermore, several highly anticipated games, including Remedy’s Control Resonant and Samson: A Tyndalston Story from Liquid Swords, will be launched directly on the cloud service.

NVIDIA’s GeForce Now stands out as a leading cloud gaming service, especially following the introduction of GeForce RTX 5080-powered servers. Engadget’s Devindra Hardawar praised these advancements, noting that the experience is “indistinguishable from a powerful rig.” The service is currently accessible on a wide range of devices, including Fire TV sticks, Windows and Mac PCs, NVIDIA’s Shield, Android TV, and smartphones, among others.
