WestEnd Films Initiates International Sales for Rachel Rose’s Directorial Debut “The Last Day” at Berlin Market
WestEnd Films has officially commenced international sales for “The Last Day,” the feature directorial debut of renowned visual artist Rachel Rose. The film stars acclaimed actors Alicia Vikander, Wagner Moura, and Victoria Pedretti.
At the European Film Market on Thursday, the London-based sales agency presented a first-look image from the film, which is currently in post-production. Co-representing North American distribution rights are CAA Media Finance and UTA Independent Film Group.
Drawing inspiration from Virginia Woolf’s iconic novel “Mrs. Dalloway,” “The Last Day” is set over the span of a single summer day in New York City. The narrative explores the brief yet transformative meeting between two mothers as they navigate their personal crises. Vikander portrays Julia, a writer confronting creative stagnation, unresolved grief, and the complexities of her daughter’s impending adolescence. Her life is disrupted by a chance encounter with Taylor (played by Pedretti), a labor and delivery nurse facing her own postpartum challenges, pushing Julia to confront her carefully maintained sense of balance.
As the film’s sales journey begins at the market, “The Last Day” promises to captivate audiences with its poignant themes and powerful performances.
