Pearl Abyss Reveals Performance Metrics for Crimson Desert on Consoles Ahead of Launch
As the anticipated release of Crimson Desert approaches, developer Pearl Abyss has released comprehensive performance details for the game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, just over a week before its debut on March 19.
The game will exhibit varying performance benchmarks tailored to each console, ranging from the less powerful Xbox Series S to the robust PlayStation 5 Pro. The developer has outlined three distinct gameplay modes—Performance, Balanced, and Quality—for each platform, detailing expected resolutions, frame rates, and ray tracing capabilities.
Despite revealing these specifications, the company has not released any new gameplay footage for the consoles, heightening concerns among fans. Some players have criticized Pearl Abyss for allegedly withholding information about the console versions ahead of the launch. This skepticism has led to fears of a debacle reminiscent of the troubled launch of Cyberpunk 2077, where the game’s subpar console performance was not disclosed prior to its release.
In light of these concerns, a Pearl Abyss spokesperson recently urged fans to be patient. “We’re not hiding anything, and I’m tired of repeating myself,” said Will Powers. He emphasized that the team will share more information ahead of the launch to ensure players have ample opportunity to preorder. “Let us cook? Please and thank you,” he added.
Additionally, Pearl Abyss provided insights into the game’s technical specifications for PC, Mac, and ROG Ally devices. Players aiming for ultra graphics on PC will require hardware such as the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT to achieve 4K at 60fps.
Last month, Powers reiterated the company’s commitment to optimizing the game across all platforms to ensure smooth performance. Crimson Desert will be available for $69.99 and will notably be free of cosmetic cash shops or microtransactions, a decision that aligns with the developer’s focus on delivering a complete gaming experience.
