Nvidia Enhances GeForce NOW with Higher Frame Rates for VR Streaming

Nvidia has formally rolled out an update to its GeForce NOW cloud gaming service, first announced at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) earlier this month. This update aims to significantly improve framerate capabilities for users of popular standalone virtual reality (VR) headsets.

The latest enhancement allows for frame rates of up to 90 frames per second (fps) across all supported VR platforms, which encompass leading devices such as the Vision Pro, Meta Quest, and Pico headsets.

This performance boost is available exclusively to Ultimate members, a premium subscription tier priced at $20 per month or $200 annually—an offering that Nvidia claims provides capabilities akin to RTX 50-series performance.

However, it’s worth noting that GeForce NOW does not yet support cloud gaming for VR-native titles. Users hoping to access a broad library of VR-specific games will find that the service currently offers standard games available on Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, and handheld consoles, rather than fully immersive VR experiences.

Among the various headsets, Vision Pro users may enjoy the most advanced streaming experience due to its integrated eye-tracking technology. This feature allows Nvidia to deliver foveated rendering, enabling PC streaming at resolutions up to 4K and frame rates of up to 120 fps. This advancement is part of a collaboration between Nvidia and Apple, integrating the CloudXR platform with visionOS.
