Marathon Unveils Key Update Following Initial Launch
Marathon has rolled out its first significant patch just days after its launch, addressing numerous concerns raised by players. The update includes essential balance modifications, weapon adjustments, and enhancements aimed at improving gameplay experience. Below are the critical highlights of the patch.
A primary focus of the update is the reduction of health and shield points for UESC bosses. Bungie explained that this change aims to ease the resource management burden during encounters, particularly in solo player and crew modes. The company emphasized that while they are adjusting the health metrics, they intend to maintain the challenge posed by these adversaries.
“This adjustment is designed to allow your resources—ammunition and healing items—to have greater longevity during engagements with UESC. We recognize the feedback indicating that players value the challenge the UESC combatants present and have no intention of altering that dynamic,” Bungie stated.
While many players have noted that UESC encounters remain challenging, particularly for solo players, the patch promises a more manageable experience without compromising on the intensity of combat. Principal Communications Manager Cozmo remarked, “Don’t worry, the UESC will still pose a significant threat.”
Additional changes in the patch include:
-
Increased Supply Placement: The map “Perimeter” now features more medical cabinets and ammunition crates, enhancing sustainability for newcomers.
-
Sound Range Adjustments: The visibility of gunfire and explosions has been extended, likely to promote more PvP interaction.
-
Weapon Balancing: Adjustments have been made to thermal scopes, significantly reducing their effectiveness across various weapon categories, with sniper rifles experiencing a drastic decrease in range.
-
Improved Map Navigation: Players can now track the Rook directly on their map, eliminating the need for pings to navigate effectively. The Rook has also been enhanced with increased faction reputation gains and changes to its associated WSTR shotgun.
-
Contract Objectives Visibility: The visibility range for contract objectives has been expanded, easing the burden on players during specific tasks.
-
Outpost Switches: Certain switches leading to the Broken Wing have been disabled to make navigation more challenging.
-
Premium Currency Bundle Update: The LUX currency bundle has been revised to provide a total of 1,120 units, facilitating in-game purchases.
Overall, these updates represent a proactive approach by Bungie to enhance the player experience following recent feedback. As the community eagerly anticipates further adjustments, this initial patch lays a solid foundation for ongoing improvements.
