Woman Charged with Attempted Murder of Rihanna Following Shooting Incident
A 35-year-old woman from Orlando, Florida, has been charged with the attempted murder of music icon Rihanna after shots were fired at the singer’s Los Angeles residence. Ivanna Lisette Ortiz appeared in court on Tuesday, facing multiple allegations stemming from the alarming incident that occurred on Sunday afternoon.
At the time of the shooting, Rihanna was at home with her partner, A$AP Rocky, their three young children, and her mother. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
In addition to the attempted murder charge, Ortiz is facing ten counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and three counts of discharging a weapon at an inhabited dwelling or vehicle. The three shooting charges specifically relate to Rihanna’s residence, her trailer—where she was present during the incident—and a neighboring property.
The assault charges encompass threats made against Rihanna, her family, two staff members, and two individuals residing next door.
No further details surrounding the motivation for the attack were revealed during the court proceedings. Ortiz’s attorney, Jamarcus Bradford, initially entered a not guilty plea on her behalf; however, this plea was subsequently retracted ahead of an arraignment hearing slated for later this month. Ortiz is currently being held on $1.8 million bail.
This hearing took place just floors away from where A$AP Rocky faced a trial last year, underscoring the ongoing intersection of celebrity culture and legal challenges.
As the case unfolds, the entertainment community continues to express concern over issues of safety and security for public figures and their families.
