Apple Introduces Keyboard Changes in Latest MacBook Models

March 10, 2026 – Apple has made subtle yet noteworthy updates to the keyboard design of its recently announced MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models. This change, which some may have overlooked during the product presentations, marks a shift in the key labeling approach for these devices.

In the new U.S. English keyboard layouts for both the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, keycaps for the Tab, Caps Lock, Shift, Return, and Delete keys now feature glyphs instead of traditional text labels. This design modification aims to enhance the visual aesthetics of the keyboards, aligning with trends seen in previous MacBook models.

The change was first highlighted by tech commentator “Mr. Macintosh,” and it also extends to the upcoming MacBook Neo model. The inclusion of glyphs on keycaps has been a standard for Apple’s British English and various European language layouts; thus, Mac users in these regions will find this update familiar. The new design is expected to have a broader international reach as the U.S. English layout is commonly used on MacBook models sold in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore.

The updated MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Neo are set to be available starting this Wednesday, offering users a refreshed typing experience along with upgraded hardware features.

For those eager to discover the latest products from Apple, these keyboard modifications may signal a more extensive evolution in design philosophy, aiming for a blend of functionality and modern aesthetic appeal.
