Quentin Tarantino has responded to actress Rosanna Arquette’s recent comments regarding the frequent use of the N-word in his films, notably Pulp Fiction. In a pointed statement circulated to various media outlets, including Deadline, Tarantino took issue with Arquette’s remarks, describing her response as indicative of a “decided lack of class.”
“Perhaps the publicity you’ve generated from 132 different media outlets is worth the disrespect shown towards me and a film you were once ‘thrilled’ to be a part of,” Tarantino stated, alluding to his collaboration with Arquette in the critically acclaimed film. “After providing you with an opportunity, your choice to disparage it—most likely for cynical reasons—reflects a lack of honor.”
He further emphasized the expectation of camaraderie among artistic colleagues, suggesting that Arquette’s objective had been achieved through her comments.
Arquette’s critique, which she expressed in an interview with the Sunday Times, included strong disapproval of Tarantino’s use of the N-word, stating, “I cannot stand that he has been given a hall pass. It’s not art; it’s just racist and creepy.”
