Crimson Desert Developer Promises Comprehensive PS5 Tech Analysis Ahead of Launch
As excitement builds surrounding the release of Crimson Desert, one pressing question arises: How will the game perform on console systems?
Recent rumors indicate that no console reviews will be available prior to launch, which has led to skepticism among PlayStation 5 users. However, the South Korean development team at Pearl Abyss has remained confident throughout the game’s promotional phase, insisting that it is not withholding information despite the absence of console-focused gameplay footage.
In a recent video preview by content creator FightinCowboy, Pearl Abyss made a notable statement regarding transparency: “Regardless of what we say, people probably won’t believe us. So instead, we’re sending the game to Digital Foundry, and they’ll have a full analysis of performance across all the platforms at launch.”
Digital Foundry has confirmed this commitment, as noted in the introduction of their technical Q&A with the studio. Alex Battaglia from Digital Foundry stated that his team is currently engaged in a detailed examination of the game, including preliminary insights into the PS5 Pro version.
According to a technical specifications sheet released earlier this week, the PS5 version of Crimson Desert aims for a target frame rate of 60fps with ultra ray tracing enabled, thanks to enhancements from PSSR’s upgraded upscaler. While the native resolution will be set at 1080p, it is expected that the game will provide a capable 4K image if the latest technologies from Sony are utilized effectively.
The standard PS5 version will also target 60fps at 1080p, albeit with lower ray tracing settings. Additional graphical options, including 30fps modes that increase resolution, will be accessible across all platforms.
While the initial performance metrics are promising, the true test will come once the game is in players’ hands. Pearl Abyss’s decision to grant Digital Foundry comprehensive access underscores their confidence in Crimson Desert. Enthusiasts now await the forthcoming performance analysis with anticipation.
