Larry Hryb Joins Commodore International as Community Development Advisor

Commodore International has announced the appointment of Larry Hryb, widely recognized in the gaming community as “Major Nelson,” as its new Community Development Advisor. Hryb, who is celebrated as a significant figure in the gaming industry, previously spent many years with Xbox, where he played a crucial role in building and nurturing the relationship between Microsoft and its gaming audience.

In his new position, Hryb will focus on enhancing community engagement strategies, developing outreach programs for developers, and spearheading events that connect Commodore’s storied history with contemporary technological advancements and creative endeavors.

Christian “Peri Fractic” Simpson, the President and CEO of Commodore, remarked on Hryb’s legacy: “Larry was a pioneer in establishing direct lines of communication with players through blogs, podcasts, social media, and events long before such practices became standard in our industry. His joining us marks a significant step in rejuvenating the Commodore brand while simultaneously strengthening our connection with both longtime fans and a new generation of enthusiasts.”

Hryb echoed Simpson’s sentiments, stating, “I’ve always believed that the best companies partner with their communities. With a fervent fan base advocating for Commodore’s 31-year legacy, the opportunity for meaningful community engagement is truly exceptional. The community has already begun creating something extraordinary; now we will collaborate to build the future together.”

Commodore International was co-founded by Simpson and has recently launched the Commodore 64 Ultimate. The company is currently engaged in a legal dispute with Commodore Industries regarding the use of the iconic brand name.
